Una retórica para las bibliotecas obreras: la cultura bibliotecaria socialista en transformación (Argentina, 1908-1920)

Abstract

Se presenta un estudio sobre la cultura bibliotecaria del socialismo en la Argentina durante la década de 1910. Dos puntos de análisis estructuran el ensayo: (a) los mensajes transmitidos desde La Vanguardia sobre las bibliotecas en general; (b) los artículos que el mismo periódico publicó sobre la Biblioteca Obrera en particular. Se constata que la intensidad y la constancia del tema crearon una retórica bibliotecaria de tono contestatario, dentro de la cual la Biblioteca Obrera sirvió como ejemplificación de las buenas prácticas y del horizonte por alcanzar. Se concluye que esa prédica transmitió una idea de biblioteca que aglutinó a los militantes de la lectura bajo una misma perspectiva y los alentó a formar nuevas y mejores experiencias.

A study is presented on the library culture of socialism in Argentina (1910-1920). It analyses: (a) the messages transmitted from La Vanguardia about libraries in general; (b) the articles that the same newspaper published about the Biblioteca Obrera in particular. It is shown that the intensity and constancy of the theme created a critical library rhetoric, within which the Biblioteca Obrera exemplified good practices and the horizon to be followed. It is concluded that this preaching transmitted an idea of a library that brought together the militants of reading under the same perspective and encouraged them to form new and better experiences.
